When I was at Quid in August of 1955, two hurricanes hit the camp -- Connie and Diane. We had to evacuate our tents (I was in Trails End that summer) and sleep in sleeping bags on the floor of the main building. Everything was so dark, the wind was howling, and the two trees by the pump were squeaking as they rubbed together. It was a memorable night.
